Evan Phillips is locally known as the frontman for the Whipsaws, as well as for his solo recordings and work with Easton Stagger Phillips. Molly McDermott is a cellist and singer who has toured with the Kirtan Choir and June Madrona. Both are songwriters with a keen interest in folk and experimental music, and a mutual love for their home, Alaska.

Created over the course of 5 years, Silhouettes represents a new energy for one of Alaska’s most enduring rockers. From the ethereal melodies of the album’s title track (below), to ambient instrumental “Afterschool Special”, to folk duet lullaby “Guess I Was Just Young”, this album stretches the boundaries of rock and americana genres.
The album features stunning vocal work be Seattle-based songwriter Courtney Marie Andrews, as well as skillful organ and keys by Nasvhille ripper, Matt Rowland. Additionally a host of other great players contributed artistically including Bryan Daste (Portland, OR), James Glaves (Anchorage, AK), and Emma Hill (Anchorage, AK), plusmany more.
